Portrait Photography
ART 267 | 4 credits | Fridays 9:00am–4:00pm (1 hour break for lunch)
Explore a variety of techniques and approaches to portraiture. Includes formal, informal, environmental, and group portraits using studio and location lighting and available light. Incorporates digital printing and professional practices. Instructor: Wayne Knowles

Introduction to Digital Illustration
ART 239 | 3 credits | Wednesdays 6-9:50pm
Work with nationally known and trend-setting illustrative-designer Von Glitschka to learn the basics of digital illustration. Draw and scan original sketches, develop concepts and imagery, and explore digital techniques in a variety of exciting real-world projects. Illustrator software experience required. This course may be repeated for a total of six credits. Instructor: Von Glitschka

Explore the possibilities of vector software, the language of Flash animation, digital illustration and logo design with Nike designer Carson Brown. This class will prepare you for advanced work in digital art and integrated media. Advanced class will be offered in spring. Instructor: Carson Brown

Photo Illustration

Explore the fine art of Photoshop with advanced techniques including combining images in layers to produce photo illustrations. You will work with your own photographs and graphics as you develop techniques to get beyond the basics and produce truly original work. Previous experience in Photoshop required. Photoshop 1

This is an entry-level class for students with no previous experience in Photoshop. It introduces the concepts and techniques of scanning, digital imaging and image manipulation. An advanced class will be offered spring term. For the online section PC or Mac is acceptable and Photoshop CS4 to CS5.5 is required on your home computer. Instructor: Julian Harkema

Digital Photography
ART 261D | 3 credits | Mondays and Wednesdays 1-2:50pm
Learn to get more from your digital camera and inkjet printer. This class will cover camera controls, exposure methods, basic color correction and composition. Previous computer experience is required. Instructor: Laura Lawn

General Photography
ART 261 | 4 credits
Learn the art of traditional black and white photography from both an aesthetic and technical point of view. Includes learning fundamental camera handling, using basic camera controls, exploring photographic techniques, learning proper darkroom procedure, developing film, making prints, learning finishing techniques and reviewing the history of photography through the eyes of contemporary photographers. Fully adjustable 35mm single lens reflex film camera required.
